Translator

A translator from French to English, my first translation was more than 20 years ago.

My first translation appeared in Chic (1998). The image opposite shows an extract from my three-page translation of a magazine article, a travel piece about the island of Lamu, just off the coast of Kenya in the Indian Ocean.

For translations, my current specialist areas are architecture, design (interior and product design), lighting design, landscape architecture, the arts, construction, and urban planning/design.

Although my degree is in science (geology and biology), my current role as a French to English translator stems from having lived and worked in Paris, France, for eight years. I worked as an English language trainer and wrote about French architecture and design for the international architecture and design press. I was the Paris correspondent for World Architecture magazine. And while working as a freelance architectural journalist, I interviewed many French professionals working in the fields of architecture, design, and urban development.
